"Family Fun"

We love Kingfisher Cove. The privacy of the site is unmatched. The house is large and having two kitchens makes it very comfortable for the extended family group.Having two docks for swimming is wonderful. We swam, and paddle boarded and kayaked all week. Our dogs loved that they're welcome and could hang out in the water and on the docks. The bird watching was also rewarding - nighthawks, eagle, blue herons, spotted sandpipers, and of course, kingfishers

"Perfect getaway"

My husband and I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world and jewel lake was one of our best holidays. Quiet and serene. The house is simply amazing and has all the comforts you could ever want. We can't wait to go back as it was such a special place.

"Large bright comfortable home in a very private setting on a quiet lake"

My wife and I with our dog spent five wonderful days at Kingfisher Cove over the July 1st weekend. The house is quite large with many windows to let in an abundance of natural light. It is situated on the east side of Jewel Lake, surprisingly on a large private wooded property. We spent each evening on the deck overlooking the lake until the sun set. Seeking peace and quiet, that is exactly what we got.

"Family Fun!"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kingfisher Cove. The home met all expectations with room for all nine of us, a wonderful view of the lake, a well-supplied kitchen (or two), and a much-used deck, BBQ, campfire pit and dock. My three young grandsons caught fish after fish, though my youngest kept us busy retrieving his lure from tree branches and submerged logs. Kayaking, hiking and exploring caves were also highlights, and we all appreciated the rest and quiet once the kids were put to bed, and the sounds of nature could take center stage. We would like to return in the future.

"Beautiful peace, privacy and tranquility..."

This was a lovely home for a family get together and vacation. Everyone who joined us expressed they felt like home here and I could not agree more. You can feel the soul of the home as soon as you walk in. It's been wonderful to be immersed in the history of the land and this home thru all the wonderful pictures and books in the home. You feel like part of the history in being there. We even toasted and thanked your Aunty Winn the first night we were there and sitting on the lovely deck over looking the lake. What a gift she has left for all to share in. Just love the art work in the home too! We did not needed for anything as the house is well stocked and cared for. All the kids loved living with natures embrace all around them. We saw a bear( not close to the house, down the road a bit), eagle, many humming birds, bunnies, fish jumping, ducks, loones, snakes, birds, bats....and of course all the different bugs. :) I took many pictures of the serene lake and wild flowers that surround the house. We even enjoyed a few wild rasberries while we were there. We have all loved this place so. I am grateful we decided to stay the two weeks and could have stayed even longer. We all loved the surrounding towns and enjoyed a few days trips in the area. There was so much to do and see. Thanks again for sharing this lovely home and sacred land with us. We cannot wait to return!

"This truly is 'The Perfect Get Away"

The house was even better then we were expecting. We wanted for nothing, it had all of the comforts of our own home. It is well maintained and exceptionally clean. Dealing with the owner was a pleasant experience, she quickly replies to e-mails and answered any of our questions. Although we had a little rain there was enough in the two nearby small towns to keep us entertained for an afternoon. If possible we would of given this vacation 6 stars For anyone reading this review, we truly believe you would never regret choosing this home.

"Incredible getaway"

This vacation far exceeded my expectations! The home is lovely and Jewel Lake is just that-a Jewel. But what was most wonderful was the memorabilia around the home and the story of those who built and made Kingfisher Cove what it is. The owners are wonderful and we would be thrilled to spend more time here. Thank you.

"A peaceful get away with everything at your finger tips"

Thank you Kingfisher! See you next year!!

"It IS a jewel!"

Kingfisher Cove is a wonderful place to stay - incredible privacy, wonderful views, a great kitchen, a sizeable deck, plenty of places to gather and places to steal away to if you want a little time alone. The house has a lovely, homey atmosphere and you feel welcome right away. (It was also spotless.) We swam and watched birds and read and played games and ate and laughed and walked and gazed at the stars (lying on the dock) and slept well in the near perfect silence. The little resort nearby rented us a canoe for a very reasonable rate, and we paddled all over the lake. There are some fun trails near the highway, so we got out on our mountain bikes. We got some great treats at the bakery in nearby Greenwood. The lake is fantastically quiet - there's no distant highway noise or loud motor boats - just the sound of loons and wind in the trees. It feels as though it hasn't been 'discovered' yet - laid back and uncrowded. We had lovely sunsets and a couple of fantastically dramatic storms. Ann will give you some great tips on where to shop and where to eat, and Dan is just down the road if you need anything. They're great hosts. It was a fabulous holiday...just not quite long enough.

"Tranquility and Bliss"

Kingfisher Cover is a wonderful property hidden in the woods on the shore of Jewel Lake, a magical, natural, beautiful lake 1 hr from the US/Canada WA border (HW 395). The loon call will enchant you, the non motor-boat peaceful lake will hook you. Swim, eat, enjoy. The lake is never the same - always changing like a living being. The property is well equipped, you can feel the history and loving, fun times which took place there. It is very secluded. Thank you Ann for sharing your home with us. E&D

"What a place!"

Thank you for allowing us to share your wonderful home and experience the tranquility of Jewel Lake. We have found it truly relaxing and each enjoyed it in our own way - swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and exploring. We made it to the top of Roderick Dhu after only three failed attempts and one flat tire. NB. The dogs loved it too!

"Lots of room to spread out"

The owner was great to work with. She was very prompt to answer any of my inquiries and it was wonderful to find a pet-friendly cottage. This was the first time my two year-old sheppard/ black lab cross has experienced nature this close and she truly enjoyed her holiday too. My four teenagers appreciated having their own rooms, while I enjoyed using the beautiful well-equipped upstairs kitchen. The great room upstairs had lots of cozy chairs and couches for reading and playing music. The piano, though dreadfully out of tune, was a pleasant surprise for the musicians in the family. I found a music book in the extensive library and had fun playing some "oldies" on the old upright. The downstairs kitchen was perfect for kenneling our dog and storing our beach and fishing gear. We used the open area downstairs for board games in the evenings of the hotter days. The spacious house stayed surprisingly cool despite the 30-37 degree weather. We caught a couple of trout off the dock and made s'mores by the lake. The owners of nearby Jewel Lake fishing resort were super friendly and rented us some kayaks for a day. My husband and sons explored the mountain bike trails and rode most of the way to Midway along the Trans-Canada trail. We also visited the museums and restaurants in Greenwood and Grand Forks and made a day trip to sunny Osoyoos. It was a very full week and we would like to return to explore some more.

"Ultimate Bucket-Filler"

We just LOVED our first stay at Kingfisher Cove! Beautiful, peaceful, quiet and super relaxing. Perfect place to reconnect as a family, soak in the gorgeous surroundings, and just BE. Our activities included fishing, canoeing and exploring some very nice hiking and biking trails. The house is very well equipped and comfortable, and our hosts very welcoming and helpful. Cannot wait for our next visit!

"A beautiful spot for relaxation and friends"

The house and property is an ideal location to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We brought some SUPs and tied floaties to the dock to enjoy the quiet lake which was really fun. The huge deck is perfect for morning coffees right through to evening drinks under the stars. Our stay was not long enough and we can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

"Peaceful Lakeside Retreat"

Our two families had a lovely, relaxing week at Kingfisher Cove. The cabin is very spacious, clean, well equipped & the beds were very comfy! Being right on the lake was a real treat. We enjoyed how quiet the lake was; it made paddle-boarding and swimming a pleasure. Sitting outside in the warm, evening sun watching the fish jump in the lake added to the relaxing experience. Thank you for sharing your special lake home with us! Communication with the owners was excellent and always helpful! We would definitely recommend this vacation home to our friends.

"A week in paradise"

Our family was really impressed with Kingfisher Cove! We all love to swim so being by the lake in this summer of heat and forest fires was a great relief. We especially enjoyed calm evening canoeing, catching brook trout in the morning, meals together on the upper deck, star gazing, listening to the haunting call of the loon and the barred owl asking "who cooks for you"? and exploring the sandy beach at the north end of the lake with the children. Well kitted out, quiet and tranquil it met our every expectation.

"Our week here was absolutely wonderful"

I've never relaxed so much and enjoyed it. We love your beautiful home and all the amazing things in it, so many treasures. The guys did lots of fishing and managed to catch 2 small one but it was all about spending time together on the lake. Thank you so much for sharing your home on the lake, we all appreciated it so much.

"A gorgeous spot!"

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this lovely house. Jewel Lake is a quiet and incredibly scenic lake and the house is large and very comfortable...fabulous evenings spent on the balcony overlooking the lake or down at the dock. There is loads of room too! We rented canoes, swam off the dock and enjoyed visiting the nearby historic towns. The owners are very kind and thoughtful too. Thanks so much for a truly lovely stay!

"Another stay at a Piece of Heaven"

Only one word defines our time here - PEACE. Very much hope that we will have the opportunity to return soon. Thank you Skelcher family for this haven of rest and relaxation.
